Spring Grove Educators Present at Statewide Technology Conference

Spring Grove Area School District educators were among the presenters at this year’s Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo & Conference (PETE&C), sharing innovative ways to integrate technology into the classroom. Instructional Technology Specialists Brent Barge, Kim Dunlap, Kristen Henning, and SGI STEAM Teacher Tabatha Schaffer led engaging sessions to inspire educators from across the state.

Breaking Barriers with the SGASD Lending Library
Kristen Henning, with support from Kim Dunlap and Brent Barge, presented "Taking Away Barriers: SGASD Lending Library." The session showcased Spring Grove’s in-house Lending Library, a valuable resource providing teachers access to cutting-edge technology and robotics. They aim to remove financial and logistical barriers so educators can seamlessly integrate engaging tech tools into their classrooms. The Lending Library was made possible by a generous grant from the Spring Grove Area Educational Fund.

Apple Learning Coach Showcase
Kristen Henning also participated in the Apple Learning Coach Showcase panel discussion, highlighting the benefits of Apple’s free certification program for educators. As a certified Apple Learning Coach, Kristen shared how the program has transformed instructional practices, helping teachers maximize Apple technology for student learning.

Kim Dunlap and Tabatha Schaffer teamed up for "Race to Nome in Your Classroom," bringing history and adventure to life. Their session explored how teachers can incorporate the famous Iditarod sled dog race into their lessons, using resources from the Iditarod’s education department to engage students in real-world learning experiences.

Spring Grove Area School District is proud of these educators for sharing their expertise and representing the district at a statewide level. Their dedication to instructional technology and innovative teaching embodies the district’s vision of Learning Without Limits, ensuring students and educators have access to the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.
