Virtual Learning Day Schedule and Reminders

On a virtual learning day, students engage in active learning from home using Schoology. These days may be used in lieu of a traditional snow day during inclement weather or in response to another school closure. This page provides SGI's virtual learning schedule and helpful reminders. While students are encouraged to work as independently as possible, they may need guidance from an adult to stay on track.

Teachers will provide short pre-recorded lessons (5–10 minutes) that replicate direct instruction and will post these videos in their Schoology courses. During student independent work time, teachers will also offer optional Zoom sessions for additional support. These resources are designed to help students stay connected, access instruction at their own pace, and receive help as needed during a Virtual Learning Day.

Schedule

  • 7:50 AM - 9:30 AM: Planning / Preparation
     
  • 9:35 AM – 10:05 AM: Period 1 (normal 9:02 - 9:42 class)
     
  • 10:10 AM – 10:40 AM: Period 2 (normal 9:44 - 10:24 class)
     
  • 10:45 AM - 11:15 AM: Period 3 (normal 10:26 - 11:06 class)
     
  • 11:15 AM - 11:45 AM: Period 4 (normal 11:08 - 11:48 class)
     
  • 11:50 AM - 12:20 PM: Period 5 (normal 11:50 - 12:30 class)
     
  • 12:25 PM - 12:55 PM: Period 6 (normal 12:32 - 1:12 class)
     
  • 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM: Period 7 (normal 1:14 - 1:54 class)
     
  • 1:35 PM - 2:05 PM: Period 8 (normal 1:56 - 2:36 class)
     
  • 2:10 PM - 3:00 PM: Period 9 (normal DA) - Independent Work / Student Support

Student Reminders

  • Students should check their email first thing in the morning for any last-minute updates, changes, or announcements from the teacher and/or principal.
  • Assignments and resources can be accessed in Schoology. 
  • Students should work at their teacher’s direction.

Expectations When Joining an Optional Zoom Session

  • Mute your microphone when entering the Zoom session and keep it muted unless your teacher asks you to unmute.

  • Keep your video on with your face clearly visible, unless you’ve made prior arrangements with your teacher.

  • Use your first name and last initial as your Zoom display name, no nicknames.

Parent/Guardian Reminders:

  • Parents/guardians should check their email first thing in the morning for any last-minute updates, changes, or announcements from the teacher and/or principal.
  • If your student is unable to complete the assignments/activities assigned by their teacher during the virtual learning day, please inform your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
